'Postcard Poem to Jen 9/30/2013' by Ravyn LaRue

I'm writing you a letter
So know this isn't all there is
I miss you profoundly
You've been such a substantial part of my identity for the last two years that being far from you feels like shreds of my soul have been forgotten back home.
Lots reminds me of you.
My Fiction Writing teacher is Mama Morton personified, I swear.
So, consequently, I think-
"She needs a Velma"
Since it's a part of her that seems gone.
Just like how much of me is with you.

'Postcard Poem to Joe 9/30/2013' by Ravyn LaRue

Joe, I wrote you a letter-
I have yet to type it up, though.
So here's a makeshift poem-
I have many more for/about you-
You're one of my poetry muses, it's official.
You, Jen and Terese, of course.
I've already written the details in my letter-
"The more embarrassing the better"
Sorry, that's from a song.
Anyways, I'll send you the letter and other poems soon enough.
But I hope all's well.
I love and miss you-
As, of course, I should!

'Postcard Poem to Terese 9/30/2013' by Ravyn LaRue

I am in the process of writing your letter
It takes so much longer since I'm writing it by hand
Just like this
But you are worth billions of years longer than the time all this takes me
Though it takes me way too long
But I love you
And I miss you
I'm certain that's obvious
I hope this odd thing tides you over-
Until I complete my words to you-
In painfully perfect penmanship

'Standing Ovation' by Ravyn LaRue

Remember that glorious afternoon
When the stage lighting kissed our still-pale-from-winter faces
And when we looked up from carrying on
A crowd of our beloveds stared back
Smiling
Standing
Applauding
Nothing of our struggles
Before or after
Can ever take that moment away
There were tears in my eyes when I tapped on your shoulder
“Look!”
I said softly
You and I both had a hill to climb before we reached that point
But love, you know we reached it
And what is struggled for is so much more beautiful than what is merely handed over
In that moment, my love
We were brighter than shining glittering Broadway stars
And no one can take that away from us
To me that was worth more than a Tony
And there isn’t a single soul in this vast scope of world who I would want by my side more than you
And it was you, my love
It was us, my love
Can you believe that?
That was us!

'Beth' by Ravyn LaRue

I'm trying to be good
I'm trying to listen to songs that make me cry
Because denying emotion is not something I want
But your song, love
It still shatters me to the core
Because I cannot escape the knowledge of you singing it
With that brave unfaltering voice
You were her in that moment
Truly and utterly
And knowing that rips me to shreds
Since it was so vulnerable and open and beautiful
Leaving the rest of us all sobbing
Leaving me sobbing
Ah it was so good
Joe and I have fangirled quite a bit
But that's entirely beside the point
You were magnificent and SO brave and angelic
My God you made it perfect

'Meant for One Another' by Ravyn LaRue

When Hero said we were made for one another
I said, “Well of course; we’re friends!”
But her, being the oracle she is, saw what we would mean to one another
We work so well together
And at each other’s sides we triumph against all injustice and annoyances
And undead rotting corpses, of course
I truly feel a “better half” sort of thing
You and I are kindred spirits, of course, but you can make so much from the things I take for granted
You are smart and sweet and unstoppable!
And you help me keep from getting bitter and giving up when that fate seems all too easy
But I’ll never fall into that chasm
As long as you’re there for me, as you are
With all your kindness and passion and wisdom and love
And I love you
So profoundly
But I should hope you already know that

'Haikus' by Ravyn LaRue

Haikus aren’t easy
But they’re still poems so I’ll try
I’m busy but I love you
