'Standing Ovation' by Ravyn LaRue

Remember that glorious afternoon
When the stage lighting kissed our still-pale-from-winter faces
And when we looked up from carrying on
A crowd of our beloveds stared back
Smiling
Standing
Applauding
Nothing of our struggles
Before or after
Can ever take that moment away
There were tears in my eyes when I tapped on your shoulder
“Look!”
I said softly
You and I both had a hill to climb before we reached that point
But love, you know we reached it
And what is struggled for is so much more beautiful than what is merely handed over
In that moment, my love
We were brighter than shining glittering Broadway stars
And no one can take that away from us
To me that was worth more than a Tony
And there isn’t a single soul in this vast scope of world who I would want by my side more than you
And it was you, my love
It was us, my love
Can you believe that?
That was us!
