'Fridays' by Ravyn LaRue

I used to look forward to every friday
I didn’t have school
And I could be with you
You’d take me to run errands with you
But that didn’t matter
I was perfectly content to tag along
We’d listen to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen
And any others who happened to slip in
And I would dream of how nice it would be to have friends
But that didn’t matter
We’d get burgers and fries
I’d mix all the pops together
If I was good, we’d go to the library or the park
I was almost always good
Since I couldn’t see your errant flaws
But that didn’t matter
I miss that
Now I’m grown and I see things for what they are
Banks and Hardware stores are boring
Fast food rots your insides
And you aren’t the perfect Superman I imagined you as
But that doesn’t matter
